Pipeline remains Kenya’s most successful side in the women’s competition, having won six

Former African champions Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and reigning bronze medalists Kenya Pipeline are expected to headline teams to this year’s Women's African Volleyball Club Championship slated for 1 April 2025 in Abuja, Nigeria.

Japheth Munala’s KCB who won the title in 2022 have blown hot and cold in the 2024/25 season and have until then to get their act together while Pipeline’s momentum will see them chasing the double.

Former champions Prisons Kenya who placed third in the 2021 edition are also expected to feature, looking to end their trophy drought, having last won the continental title in 2013.

“We are pleased to inform you that the 2025 Women's African Volleyball Club Championship will be held in Abuja, Nigeria. We invite your Federation to register your club representatives for this championship. Each Federation is allowed to register a maximum of three teams. However, the Federation from which the defending champion comes may register a maximum of four teams,” the communique by CAVB president Bouchra Hajij reads in part.

Federations are expected to have participants registered by 17 February 2025. The arrival date is set for 1 April with the competition serving off on 3 through to 13 April 2025.

Pipeline remains Kenya’s most successful side in the women’s competition, having won six titles, finished as runners-up on eight occasions, and settled for bronze seven times. Prisons have one title less, one silver, and three bronze. KCB and Post Bank have two titles each.
